We’re a youth-led organization that believes real change starts in the communities we work with, with the people, their stories, and our collective dreams for sustainable communities. We understand that issues like early marriage, education inequality, lack of clean water, or limited income opportunities are not just problems; they’re part of a bigger system that needs shifting. Our work is focused on rural, marginalized, and indigenous communities in Kenya, particularly the Maasai and Maa-speaking communities, as well as other pastoralist groups.
We understand that issues like early marriage, educational inequality, a lack of access to clean water, or limited income opportunities are not just problems; they’re part of a larger system that needs to be transformed. That’s why we don’t come in with quick fixes. Instead, we spend time with the people, ask questions, listen, and co-create solutions that actually work for them. Our team collaborates closely with local groups to address education gaps, enhance access to safe water and sanitation, foster economic growth, and improve climate resilience.
At The Soina Foundation, we put communities, especially those most affected, at the center of climate action. We focus on solutions that protect both people and the natural environment. We are a large group of people who powered the movement fighting for a green and peaceful future for your land, forests, oceans, food, climate, and to pass the green earth to our children. Each one of us can make small changes in our lives, but together we can change the world. We also focus a lot on building skills and confidence, because we believe communities already have what it takes; they need a bit of support to unlock it.

We work with schools to grow vegetables and other foods that support feeding programs, boost nutrition, and create learning opportunities in farming and sustainability. Surplus is sold to nearby communities, and the income helps buy cereals or cover school needs.

We bring together elders, youth, and children to exchange knowledge, values, and experiences that inspire community-led solutions. These spaces help bridge the gap between generations, preserve culture, and spark collective progress.

We are on a mission to build safe, solar-powered libraries in rural areas, so that every child can access books, digital learning resources, and a space to study. Our libraries are community hubs where dreams grow one page at a time, ensuring that learning takes place in supportive environments.
